Your Privacy Matters
Digital rights are human rights. We defend them.
What is the EU Chat Control?
Since August 2, 2026, the EU has introduced Chat Control Stage 1. Providers are required to monitor and report suspicious communications. End-to-end encryption still protects your message contents — for now.
Stage 1 — Active since August 2026
Providers must scan and report suspicious communications. Metadata (who, when, how often) is captured. End-to-end encryption still protects message contents.
Stage 2 — Coming end of 2027
Client-Side Scanning: Your own device will scan messages before they are encrypted. End-to-end encryption is effectively bypassed. What you see on your screen is read before it is encrypted. This affects everyone — not just suspects.
This is mass surveillance on a scale never seen in Europe. Packaged as "child protection," it monitors every citizen's private communication.

How to Protect Yourself
Use Encrypted Messaging
Switch from WhatsApp and Telegram to Signal for truly private conversations. Signal uses real end-to-end encryption and is open source.
De-Google Your Phone
Replace Google services with open-source alternatives. Use F-Droid and Aurora Store instead of Google Play. Install MicroG for minimal compatibility.
Self-Host Your Data
Don't store your photos, files, and passwords on Google or Apple servers. Use self-hosted alternatives like Nextcloud and Vaultwarden — WWFP can help you set this up.
Get a Privacy Phone
The most effective step: run GrapheneOS on a dedicated Pixel device. No Google services, no tracking, no client-side scanning.
Take Back Control
Your data belongs to you. Your communication is private. We help you reclaim both.
